Accountancy & Tax

Accountancy That Keeps You Informed - Not In The Dark

Straightforward accountancy and tax support for owner-managed businesses that want things handled properly, explained clearly and planned before they become a problem.

You need your accounts filed, your tax dealt with and your deadlines met. But that should only be the starting point.

You should also understand what is happening, know what you need to do and have someone you can speak to when you have a question.

We combine the essential accountancy and tax work your business needs with a clearer way of working around it – so you are not left chasing for answers or finding out important information later than you should.

The Basics Matter. But So Does What Happens Around Them.

Most business owners do not want to spend their time thinking about accounts and tax.

They want to know:

  • Is everything being dealt with properly?
  • How much tax do I owe?
  • When do I need to pay it?
  • Is there anything I should be doing before the year ends?
  • Who do I speak to if something changes?

And then they want to get back to running their business.

That is how we think accountancy should work.

We take care of the technical work, explain the things that matter and build regular points into the year where we look ahead rather than simply reporting on what has already happened.

What We Can Help You With

Your annual accounts and Corporation Tax Return need to be accurate, compliant and submitted on time.

We take care of the preparation and filing, but we do not simply send you a set of accounts and expect you to work out what they mean. We explain the important points in straightforward language, highlight anything that deserves your attention and make sure you understand your final tax position.

Good tax planning usually works better before the year has finished.

We build tax planning into the annual relationship rather than leaving the conversation until the opportunity to act has already passed. Where legitimate planning opportunities are available, we explain them clearly and help you understand the practical impact before you decide what to do.

The aim is not aggressive tax avoidance. It is to make sure you understand your position and consider appropriate opportunities at the right time.

For many owner-managed businesses, the finances of the company and its owners are closely connected.

We can deal with your personal Self Assessment obligations alongside the business, helping you understand what is due, when it needs paying and how the different parts of your tax position fit together.

Where VAT applies to your business, we can help with the preparation and submission of VAT returns and make sure the relevant information and deadlines form part of the wider service we provide.

If something changes – for example your business grows, your circumstances alter or a VAT issue arises – you have someone to discuss it with rather than being left to work it out alone.

Good accounting information starts with good records.

We can provide bookkeeping support where required, helping keep your financial information organised and sufficiently current for accounts, tax and business decisions.

If you employ people, we can help take care of the regular payroll processing and associated reporting requirements.

It becomes part of the wider accountancy relationship rather than another disconnected piece of administration for you to manage.

A Clearer Way Of Working With Your Accountant

Good accountancy is not only about getting the technical work right. You should also know what is happening, what you need to do and when you will hear from us.

That is why every recurring client is looked after through our:

Certainty By Design Approach

It puts clear processes around the parts of an accountancy relationship that can otherwise feel uncertain.

Know Who To Speak To

You have a named primary contact, a named backup and direct access to the relevant specialists when you need them.

Know When You Will Hear From Us

Normal enquiries receive a substantive response within 24 working hours. If we need longer to answer fully, we will tell you what is happening and when you will hear from us.

Know What Is Coming

Your personalised Financial Control Calendar sets out the important accountancy, tax, information and review dates across your year.

Look At Tax Before The Year Is Over

Your Tax Clarity & Planning Review gives you visibility over the tax accumulated so far and an opportunity to consider legitimate planning before your year end.

Know What Happens Next

You receive two proactive reviews each year, written action plans and follow-up on the things we have agreed.

And if we recommend additional work outside your package, nothing chargeable starts until we have explained the work, the price and why we think it is worth considering – and you have approved it.

Know Where Your Tax Stands Before The Year Is Over

A surprise tax bill is rarely made better by finding out about it later. So tax visibility is built into the annual process.

Before Your Year End

Around two months before the end of your accounting year, we hold your Tax Clarity & Planning Review.

At that meeting we show you the exact tax accumulated up to month nine, based on the information available at that point. We then discuss the remaining part of the year and work through your Tax Opportunity Review to identify legitimate areas worth considering while there is still time to act.

We deliberately separate what is already known from what might happen during the final months, rather than presenting a forecast as though it were certain.

After Your Year End

Within three months after the year end, your Business Performance & Planning Review confirms your final tax liability.

We also look at how the business performed, compare it with the previous year, benchmark it against similar businesses in your industry and identify areas that may deserve attention.

The result is a clearer annual rhythm:

Understand the position → consider opportunities → finish the year → confirm the result → plan what happens next.

As Your Business Changes, Your Accountancy Should Change With It

The service that worked when your business was smaller may not always remain the right service.

We formally review your package each year as part of your Business Performance & Planning Review, and we can also review it during the year if something significant changes.

That could include growth, taking on employees, VAT registration, changes in ownership, new funding, increasing complexity or simply needing more support.

If we think your current package no longer fits, we explain what has changed, what we recommend, what the additional support gives you and what it will cost.

Where the existing arrangement remains workable, the choice is yours.

Thinking About Changing Accountant?

Maybe you are waiting too long for answers. Perhaps you are regularly chasing, tax bills seem to arrive without enough warning, or you simply do not feel you know where things stand anymore.

Changing accountant can feel like another job you do not have time for – especially if you are worried the new relationship will eventually become exactly like the old one.

That is why every client switching to us goes through our structured Accountancy Reset.

We manage the handover, review what we inherit, establish your current accounting and tax position and identify anything that needs attention. The aim is not simply to move your records from one accountant to another. It is to start the new relationship with a clear understanding of where you stand.

Every switcher receives a 90-Day Reset Report so you can see what we inherited, what we found, what has been dealt with and what happens next.

Want More Help Understanding The Numbers?

For some businesses, good compliance and two structured annual reviews provide everything the owner needs.

Others reach a point where they want more regular financial involvement – more visibility over performance, cash and tax, and someone to speak to before making important financial decisions.

For those clients, our Embedded Finance Partner service provides a deeper level of ongoing financial support.

Depending on what you need, this can include:

• a Financial Control Dashboard tailored to your business;
• regular Business Finance Reviews;
• rolling cash and tax outlooks;
• decision support when important choices arise;
• Ask-Before-You-Act support;
• scenario modelling where appropriate.

It is designed to help you understand the numbers and make informed decisions without having to become the finance expert yourself.

Accountancy Should Give You One Less Thing To Worry About

You still need accurate accounts. You still need tax returns filed. You still need deadlines met.

But you should also be able to understand what is happening without repeatedly asking.

You should know who to contact, have time to consider tax before the year has finished, understand what additional work will cost before it happens and have an accountant you can actually speak to as your business changes.

That is the difference we are trying to create.

Know Where You Stand

If you are looking for an accountant who will handle the essential work properly while giving you greater clarity around what is happening and what comes next, start with a straightforward conversation.

No pressure. No accountancy jargon. Just a conversation about your business and what you need from your accountant.
